HOW IT WORKS!

1      FOOD IS DONATED

SUPPORTING PROFESSIONALS IDENTIFY PEOPLE IN NEED

Schools, churches, businesses and individuals donate non-perishable, in-date food to a foodbank. Large collections often take place as part of food issuing process and also collected at other areas such as schools, churches, nonprofit centers and supermarkets.

Foodbank partners with a wide range of care professionals such as doctors, clinics, social workers and police officers to identify people in crisis and issue them with a foodbank voucher / certificate.

2   FOOD IS SORTED & STORED

4   INDIVIDUAL / FAMILY FOOD

Staff and Volunteers sort the food and to check the date of the food and than pack it into boxes ready to be given to people in need.

Foodbank receivers would bring their Voucher / Certificate to an approved supported foodbank center where it can be redeemed for three days’ emergency food. Volunteers meet the individual (and family if present) over a warm drink or free hot meal and are able to signpost people to agencies in order to assist in solving the longer-term issues or problems
